Written by Bud Cockrell. Released on Side A of It’s a Beautiful Day…Today (Columbia Records, 1973).
“Creator” is one of several Side A tracks written by Bud Cockrell, the band’s bassist and co-lead vocalist alongside Pattie Santos on this album. By this point, the band had reconfigured into a sextet, with only Santos, drummer Val Fuentes, keyboardist Fred Webb, and guitarist Bill Gregory remaining from earlier lineups, while violinist Greg Bloch had taken over for David LaFlamme following his departure. Reviewers have generally drawn a contrast between Cockrell’s grittier, rock-oriented songwriting on Side A and the more varied, chamber-pop material found elsewhere on the record.
It’s A Beautiful Day – Watching You, Watching Me Lyrics
You might think you’ve seen all there is to see,
You might think you know,
But you don’t know me,
Watching you, watching me.
I’ve been around the world,
And here I go again,
I hope the road will rise up beneath me,
And may the wind stay at my back.
Cause I don’t want to hide,
from the things that I need.
And I don’t want to die,
I’ll take heed.
Cause I don’t want to hide,
from the things that I need.
And I don’t want to die.
I’ll take heed.
I’ll take heed.
Watching you, watching me.
Watching you, watching me
I’ll take care of you,
If you take care of me
