Artists

Bud Cockrell – lead vocals, bass
Fred Webb – keyboards
Bill Gregory – guitar
Val Fuentes – drums
Pattie Santos – vocals, percussion
Greg Bloch – violin, mandolin
Don Waldrop – guest tuba

Written by Bud Cockrell. Produced by Paul Baratta, engineered by Eric Prestidge, mastered by Doug Sax.

“Down on the Bayou” is notable for its guest tuba part from Don Waldrop, the only track on the album to feature him, adding a distinctive touch to Bud Cockrell‘s songwriting on this run of Side A tracks. The album marked a substantially reshaped lineup for the band: alongside holdovers Cockrell’s wife Pattie Santos, drummer Val Fuentes, keyboardist Fred Webb, and guitarist Bill Gregory, it introduced violinist Greg Bloch (formerly of String Cheese) and Cockrell himself on bass, replacing founder David LaFlamme and the rest of the earlier configuration.

It’s A Beautiful Day – Down On The Bayou Lyrics

Like a whiskey made from corn and rye,
I swam along with you lord, but I could never die.
And every night I try to drown my sorrow,
But I can’t stop thinking about that night
Come on, y’all.
Down on a bayou,
Look at the baby,
Down on a bayou
Down all, down all,
Down all the bayou

Spanish moss are hanging from a big ol’ tree,
And a cage in a woman that long, that’s so sweet.
And they are all laying out down,
Right by the stream.
Lord I can’t stop thinking about that night.
Come on, y’all.

Down on the bayou,
The baby,
Down on the bayou.
Down on, down on,
Down on the bayou.

Down on the bayou,
The baby,
Down on the bayou.
Down on, down on,
Down on the bayou.
