Written by Elton John & Bernie Taupin. Produced by Chris Lord-Alge, Tina Turner & Roger Davies, engineered and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, horns arranged by Timmy Cappello. From Two Rooms (1991).
A cover of the opening track from Elton John’s 1974 album Caribou, and a song Tina Turner already knew well: she first recorded it on her 1978 album Rough and used to open her shows with it. She said she thought the time was right for an updated version because its attitude suited her and was “a little bit shocking.” The recording earned her a nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the 35th Grammy Awards, and she performed the song live with Elton John at the Divas Live charity concert in 1999.
Tina Turner – The Bitch is Back Lyrics
I was justified when I was five
Raising cane, I spit in your eye
Times are changing, now the poor get fat
But the fever’s gonna catch you when the bitch gets back
Eat meat on Friday that’s alright
Even like steak on a Saturday night
I can bitch the best at your social do’s
I get high from the speaking about the things I do
I’m a bitch, I’m a bitch
I’m a bitch and I’m back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
Because I’m better than you
It’s the way that I move
The things that I do
I entertain by picking brains
Sell my soul by dropping names
I don’t like those, my god, what’s that
Oh it’s full of nasty habits when the bitch gets back
I’m a bitch, I’m a bitch
I’m a bitch and I’m back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
Because I’m better than you
It’s the way that I move
The things that I do
I’m a bitch, I’m a bitch
I’m a bitch and I’m back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
Because I’m better than you
It’s the way that I move
The things that I do
