Enya – piano, keyboards
Written by Enya & Roma Ryan. Arranged by Enya & Nicky Ryan, produced by Nicky Ryan, co-produced, engineered, and mixed by Ross Cullum, with Rob Dickins as executive producer. Recorded June 1987 to April 1988 at Aigle Studio (Killiney, County Dublin) and Orinoco/Miloco Studios (London). The instrumental opening track (2:24) on Watermark (WEA, 19 September 1988).
A solo piano piece that takes its title from a poem Roma Ryan had written, whose rhythm seemed to flow with the melody Enya and Nicky Ryan had arranged. They felt it was meant to stay an instrumental, so the poem was never turned into a lyric. The album it opens began as the soundtrack to the BBC2 documentary series The Celts and became Enya’s worldwide breakthrough thanks to the single “Orinoco Flow.”
Enya – Watermark Lyrics
Opening Enya’s second studio album, “Watermark” is a piano-based melody flowing over layered vocalisations that act like strings — hence it doesn’t feature any lyrics.
