Written by Ken Hensley. Produced by Gerry Bron, arranged by Uriah Heep, recorded July 1971 at Lansdowne Studios, London. Released as the title track on Look at Yourself (Bronze Records, September 1971); also issued as a single that same month, the band’s first UK single.

According to Ken Hensley, he ended up singing lead on the recording because frontman David Byron was suffering from throat problems during the session — though Byron reclaimed lead vocal duties for the song in live performances from then on.

Uriah Heep – Look At Yourself Lyrics

I see you running, don’t know what you’re running from
Nobody’s coming, what’d you do that was so wrong?
Look back and turn back, look at yourself
Don’t be afraid just look at yourself.

If you need assistance or if all you need is love
There’s no point in hiding, tell me what you’re frightened of
You’ve got a friend, just look at yourself
Don’t be afraid, just look at yourself.

Look back and turn back, look at yourself
Don’t be afraid just look at yourself.
