Written by Todd Buffa. Produced by Rare Silk, engineered by Tim Geelan, recorded at Caribou Ranch (Nederland, CO) & Greene Street Recording (New York City), with additional engineering at Coast Recorders and Different Fur Recording (San Francisco), 1984–85. Released as the fifth track on American Eyes (Palo Alto Records, 1985).

The title track of Rare Silk’s fourth and final studio album, “American Eyes” is a Todd Buffa original that sits alongside a mix of jazz standards and covers on the record — the album also features tracks by Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk, and Jimi Hendrix. Fusion guitarist John Scofield appears as a guest musician on this track (billed courtesy of Gramavision Records), lending it a jazzier, more improvisational edge than some of the group’s more pop-leaning material
